The 63rd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women
The 63rd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 63) will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 11 – 22 March 2019. This year’s themes are:
Priority theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls; Review theme: Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development (agreed conclusions of the sixtieth session).The zero draft of the agreed conclusions has been circulated by CSW 63 Chair, H.E. Ms. Geraldine Byrne Nason (Ireland) and covers five major points:
Strengthen the normative, legal and institutional environment Address gender gaps and biases in social protection Transform public services for gender equality and women’s empowerment Make infrastructure investment work for women and girls Mobilize resources, strengthen accountability and improve evidenceThe deadline for input from government delegations is 15 February, from which the Chair will form a compilation text that will be shared on 22 February. The first reading takes place on 27 and 28 February. Negotiations will conclude on 21 March.
